Valentinian III, 425-455. Semissis (Gold, 18 mm, 2.19 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, 425-430. D N VALENTIN-IANVS P F AVG Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Valentinian III to right. Rev. VICTORIA AVGG / CONOB Victory seated right on cuirass and shield, inscribing shield set on her left knee with XX/XXX; in field to left, star; to right, staurogram. Depeyrot -, cf. 73/5 (unbroken obverse legend). NAC 92/1 (2016), 853. RIC -, cf. 247 (unbroken obverse legend and differing reverse legend). Of the highest rarity, apparently the second known example. Minor marks and scratches, otherwise, very fine.
